NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Old Age Psychiatry

Dr Judith Harrison is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Old Age Psychiatry at Newcastle University. Her research focuses on improving the assessment and diagnosis of dementia through the use of translational technologies, including artificial intelligence and large language models. She is particularly interested in the development and evaluation of digital tools to support memory clinic assessments, and works across clinical, academic and digital health sectors to explore their safe and effective integration into NHS services.

Judith also has experience in regulatory and policy aspects of digital mental health, contributing to national initiatives with the MHRA and NICE on the oversight of AI-driven technologies and software as a medical device.

In addition to her work on digital tools, she maintains a broader interest in the early detection and biological underpinnings of dementia, including through the use of neuroimaging and polygenic risk scoring.
