The Biomedical Research Building is a purpose-built site dedicated to improving healthcare for older people and is home to the NIHR Newcastle BRC as well as ageing research labs, businesses, and the Clinics for Research and Service in Themed Assessments (CRESTA) - an NHS facility for patients.

For clinicians and scientists working on research, the broad range of facilities available provides an excellent platform for creative interaction, putting patients and the public at the heart of research.

Health Innovation Neighbourhood

The Biomedical Research Building is on a site that includes the former Newcastle General Hospital. Newcastle University and partners have a vision to turn this 29-acre brownfield site into the UK’s first health innovation neighbourhood.

This Health Innovation Neighbourhood will be where world-class research comes together with business, government and local people to shape the future of health and ageing.
