The following resources will help guide and support researchers to use PPIE in their health research.
The PPIE Planner is a free digital planning tool to help researchers put patients and the public at the heart of their work.
The online planner, funded and developed by NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), in collaboration with the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University is designed to support researchers and make it as easy as possible for them to plan out their Patient Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) activity – ensuring that the public are at the heart of research.
It includes a range of tools to help researchers, including a planning exercise which can be tailored to the relevant stage of the research cycle. Once completed, all information can be downloaded into a useful plan.
The NIHR Community Engagement Toolkit is aimed at supporting researchers who are developing grant applications with, and for, diverse communities.
The EDI toolkit for researchers toolkit is a set of practical resources, designed to help researchers to engage with and understand equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). It aims to empower people, particularly those who supervise students and manage research teams, to really value diversity and promote inclusivity within their teams to improve colleague and student experience, as well as the quality of research itself.
The NIHR Learning for Involvement Resources sit on the NIHR Learning for Involvement website – a home for resources and training about public involvement in health and social care research. Take a look around to explore the resources and training already recommended by the NIHR community.
The Applied Research Collaboration NENC Virtual College is a Training Hub bringing together all the latest training and career development opportunities for ARC North East and North Cumbria members which includes a range of online training including Public Involvement and Community Engagement.
