Camille Carroll is Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the Translational and Clinical Research Institute at Newcastle and Faculty of Health, and University of Plymouth. She is Honorary Consultant Neurologist at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. Camille undertook preclinical medical training at the University of Manchester, where she also completed an intercalated PhD (1994) investigating NMDA receptor antagonists in models of Parkinson's disease (PD). She completed clinical training at the University of Oxford in 1997 and undertook specialist neurology training in the South West and West Midlands. She was awarded an MRC post-doctoral clinical research training fellowship in 2007, enabling her to develop her research interest in investigating neuroprotection in Parkinson's disease.
Camille is the NIHR Clinical Research Network National Specialty Lead for Neurodegenerative Diseases, overseeing a balanced clinical trial portfolio in neurodegenerative disorders and lead the NIHR Remote Methods of Trial Delivery project. She is Clinical co-Director of the Parkinson’s Excellence Network in the UK and has been internationally recognized for her patient-centred approach, broadening the opportunity for Parkinson’s research and improving support for patient care and self-management.
