Stuart Watson is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University and a consultant psychiatrist with the Regional Affective Disorders Service (RADS) and the CaPE Clinic. RADS is a clinical service which supports secondary care colleagues in the assessment and management of people with difficult to treat mood disorders. CaPE is a clinical service designed to improve equitable access to clinical research.

He is an executive member of the Northern Centre for Mood Disorders - NCMD which enhances education and research

His academic interest is in the pathophysiology and treatment of mood disorders

He is Chief Investigator for The ASCEnD Trial
