Research Associate, EDI Lead for the Dementia, Mental Health and Neurodegeneration Theme

Ellen holds a PhD and MSc in Human Movement Sciences, both from São Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Newcastle University. There, she works with Professor Alison Yarnall in the Brain and Movement Research Group (BAM) and serves as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead for the BRC DMHN theme.
Ellen has a strong background in clinical trials and over a decade of experience managing multidisciplinary research projects focused on improving outcomes for people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Her research integrates wearable technology, clinical assessments, and innovative interventions to enhance patient care and quality of life.
