NIHR Newcastle BRC PhD Student

Amy is a rare disease researcher conducting their PhD on a rare genetic skin condition, called ichthyosis, with Dr Neil Rajan and Dr Ralf Kist at Newcastle University. Within her project she is developing a 3D skin model in the lab that can be genetically engineered to model ichthyosis and highlight inflammation mechanisms within the disease. She previously researched cellular networks within rare inherited cardiac arrhythmia conditions during her integrated masters at Swansea University and has years of experience in science outreach for the public and science education events within schools.
