BRC Leadership Track for the the Digital Health, Ageing Innovation and Inclusion Theme, Reader (Associate Professor) in Digital Healthcare for translational applications

Dr Silvia Del Din is a bioengineer. She completed her PhD in Information Engineering at the University of Padua.

She then moved to Newcastle University to become a Senior Research Associate in the Brain and Movement Research Group (BAM). She is currently a Newcastle University Academic Track (NUAcT) Fellow in the Brain and Movement Research team, where she links closely to researchers within the Dementia Theme at the Newcastle BRC.

She is focussed on innovating digital healthcare (wearable sensors) to enable remote patient management. Her research aims to provide a proof-of-concept of this vision in Parkinson’s Disease (PD) by understanding and predicting the impact that medication has on people with PD’s everyday life motor performance. This could revolutionise at-home patient care by optimising medication regimes.

Silvia is an advocate for Early Career Researchers (ECR) and strives to be a role-model of women in STEM.
