The NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is committed to improving lives through world-class research in ageing and long-term conditions. A partnership between Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University, we bring together academics and clinicians to translate lab-based scientific breakthroughs into potential new treatments for the NHS.

To help us deliver on our commitment to deliver better treatments across the North East and beyond, we fund researchers, healthcare workers, people supporting research and scientific studies. We also support and facilitate the involvement and participation of patients and the public in these studies, to ensure that they outcomes we deliver are suitable for the people who need them most.

The following graphics show a summary of the work we did between April 2019 and March 2020.
