The NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) are offering an opportunity for suitable individuals to undertake a six-month research internship.

The Newcastle BRC is a partnership between the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Faculty of Medical Sciences at Newcastle University. They are delighted to announce an opportunity for suitable individuals to undertake a six-month research internship. This opportunity is open to Band 5, 6 or 7 NMAHP’s, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technician and Band 5 – 8a Healthcare Scientists.

The programme funds one day per week of your clinical time over a six-month period to make space for you to undertake a work based research project with an ageing or long term conditions theme within your clinical area. The programme includes a short placement within the Research Directorate, where you will shadow staff who provide research opportunities to patients and care for them during participation in a range of clinical trials and research studies. You will have the opportunity to benefit from a range of internal and regional research training and learning opportunities including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training and the opportunity to shadow an NHS REC committee.

The remaining time will be spent undertaking a project of your choosing in your own clinical area, using research methodologies. It is important to note that this BRC funded project must relate to aspects of healthcare in the field of ageing or long-term conditions.
