Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) has launched a new animation to explain its role as a prestigious Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) for our area.

The NIHR Newcastle BRC is proud to be part of the AHSC, a badge of honour for the world-class research environment in our region.

The new animation helps to explain how the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NHIR) and NHS England designate the status of AHSC to regional partnerships. NHIP brings together partners to deliver excellence in research, health education and patient care. It is composed of five key partners:

  • Newcastle University
  • Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust
  • Newcastle City Council
  • Academic Health Science Network for North East and North Cumbria

The video also details NHIP’s work across three key areas: research and innovation, education and training, and people and culture.
