Michela Guglieri, Neil Rajan and Alison Yarnall have all been successful in being promoted to Chair from 1 August 2023.
A ‘chair’ is a prestigious professorship reserved for academics who have made who made significant achievements in their field.
Michela Guglieri will be Professor of Neuromuscular Diseases. Michela said:
"I am honoured by this promotion that will allow me to further advance and promote clinical research in neuromuscular diseases and rare diseases, working in synergy with the Newcastle BRC."
Neil Rajan will be Professor of Dermatogenetics. Neil said:
“It is a huge privilege to be promoted and I aim to use this opportunity to bring benefits to patients with rare disease.”
Alison Yarnall will be Professor of Geriatric Medicine. Alison said:
"I am thrilled to be promoted to Professor, which would not have been possible without the support of the BRC and our research group, and look forward to the challenges ahead."
Professor Avan Sayer, Director of the BRC, said:
