Researchers share diverse career journeys at Northern BRCs Conference

NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) joined the Northern BRCs Early Career Researchers Conference in Leeds recently to share their diverse career journeys with a focus on Team Science.

The conference convened Directors and Academic Capacity Development Leads from Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield BRCs who shared updates of research initiatives and opportunities.

Early Career Researchers shared their research journeys with a focus on Team Science and the importance of collaboration. A golden thread running through many of the lightning talks reflected on the willingness of colleagues to support them and how important having an informal mentor is to their professional development.

NIHR Newcastle BRC travelled to Leeds with a small group of our current cohort of first year biomedical PhD students. The conference was a fitting start to their research careers and they heard first-hand about the diverse career paths and NIHR’s commitment to developing the next generation of researchers.
