Pathways and Opportunities for Health and Care Professionals

Are you interested in finding out about research opportunities in your practice? Join us at our free in-person event to find out more.

‘Health and Care Research is All our Business’ is an event aimed at nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, pharmacists and healthcare scientists in the North East and North Cumbria region.

The event will showcase a range of opportunities available to get involved in research even if you do not have previous research experience. Recipients of the innovative research internships scheme at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust will share how their research internship has supported their career development. The exciting programme will also include flash talks from the regional NIHR infrastructure, opportunities to network and engage in breakout room discussions.

We are delighted Professor Lynn Rochester will be delivering the keynote speech on ‘reimagining careers in healthcare, why choose research?’ Professor Rochester started her career as a physiotherapist, specialising in neuro-rehabilitation before completing a PhD in translational neuroscience. Professor Rochester is currently a NIHR Senior Investigator and co Lead of the Digital Health theme at the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre (BRC). Her main research interests are in gait and mobility loss in neurodegenerative disease and ageing.

The event will be hosted by the NIHR Newcastle BRC in collaboration with our partners including Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals Trust and Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP).

Please also join us for a light lunch between 12:00 – 13:00 and take advantage of opportunities to meet new colleagues and prospective mentors.

Attendance is free but registration is essential. Registrations close on Wednesday 25 September at 17:00.
