Health is relevant to everyone, which is why we want to involve patients and the public in all the research we do. A key focus of our BRC PPIE strategy is to develop new ways to engage and communicate with underserved groups and the team were in a prime position in Old Eldon Square to support the parade, engage with the public and build relationships with the LGBTQ+ community.
Judith McGuinness said: "We had an amazing day at PRIDE this year and engaged with so many wonderful people. The stand was busy all day with people taking part in our health research myth busting activity. We had really meaningful engagement with people sharing their lived experience and a genuine interest in health research and how to take part, so we were delighted with the response."
Joining colleagues from Newcastle Health Research Partnership, this is just one of a series of community outreach activities planned for the year with the Newcastle Mela taking place during the August Bank Holiday next on the calendar.
