Join us at this all-day event that will showcase the BRC's people, celebrating the breadth and depth of research talent across the BRC.

The event is designed to shine a light on research excellence across our BRC, with a particular focus on research capacity building and showcasing the outstanding research taking place across our community. Throughout the day, we will hear from colleagues representing a range of disciplines and career stages.

We are very pleased to welcome Professor Wendy Baird, NIHR Academy Associate Dean to speak at our event on the importance of research career development to the NIHR.

Alongside the talks, the event will feature:

  • Breakout sessions exploring cross‑cutting themes such as research inclusion, working with industry, digital health and AI
  • Panel discussion on ‘how can we work together to build research capacity in the North East'
  • Networking opportunities to connect with peers
  • Exhibitors showcasing resources and services available to help you develop your research
  • Poster presentations highlighting innovative work across the BRC (you can also vote for your favourite poster of the day!)

Whether you are early in your research journey, an experienced academic, part of our professional services teams or simply curious about a research career, there will be something valuable, practical and inspiring for you.

Registration will be open from 09:45 with refreshments available throughout the day. Poster presentations and exhibitors will be based in the Workshop from 10:00. Be sure to join us for lunch and networking! The main event starts at 10:30 concluding at 16:00 with a poster prize giving ceremony.

Programme

We have an exciting event programme with talks across different career stages and professional backgrounds, themed breakout room sessions, networking opportunities and we will have posters and exhibitors in the Workshop throughout the day. Our panel discussion will focus on research capacity building in the North East as we look toward the future. The discussion will examine current strengths, emerging opportunities and the collaborative approaches needed to address evolving societal challenges.
