This initiative is a rolling call which aims to provide researchers across the BRC with the opportunity to request funds for specific activities to progress their research and support the BRC’s vision to transform lives through world-class research in ageing and multiple long-term conditions.


We’ve had a great response to the scheme and have been able to support a range of important activities but we will be closing the scheme to applications on 31 March 2025.

We hope to relaunch it in future so please look out for announcements in the months to come.


How to apply

The applicant must be a member of one of the BRC’s research themes. Please consider approaching your theme leads before submitting a request, to determine whether funding is already available within your theme.The expectation is that the requested budget for these activities will be low, typically no more than £3,000 per request.

Requests will be reviewed on a monthly basis and applicants will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible following review.

 

Bursary Guidance

Funding will be awarded as a bursary. This should not be considered a research project award. The aim of this rolling call is to provide researchers across the BRC with the opportunity to request funds for specific activities to progress their research. The expectation is that the requested budget for these activities will be low, typically no more than £3,000 per request. Requests for the following costs will not be considered:

  • Animal work of any description
  • Service contracts
  • The purchase of equipment greater than £5,000 in value
  • Salary or indirect costs
